Day 2 - Each Way Value Betting & other palavers
So yesterday was Day 2 of the Each Way Value Betting experiment and we started with a little over £106. Matches on the Oddsmonkey Each Way Matcher tool were very slow to pick up yesterday with just 2 or 3 qualifiers in the first hour or so. Then around 12.00 to 12.30 there was a pick up in the action. In the end, we managed 15 bets which seems a bit light compared to some of the forums but then I may have my settings a bit more restrictive than others so it's probably about right.
We had a couple of nice winners today and both of them were at prices higher than the SP.
14:05 Southwell - Cold Harbour @ 9.0 vs SP 8.0
16:50 Punchestown - Ballybroker Ridge @ 17.0 vs SP 13.00
We also managed 3 places today which were
16:00 Redcar - Andok @ 10.0 vs SP 6.0
16:10 Southwell - Sooqaan @ 12.0 vs SP 8.0
18:55 Chelmsford - Daring Guest @ 19.0 vs SP 9.0
What is interesting is the price when its highlighted on the matcher vs the price at SP. Of the 15 selections, today 13 were at a better price than the SP. Over two days only three selections were higher at SP than the price backed, two had the same price and twenty were backed at better prices.
Our overall profit for the day was £10.75 which has raised our starting bank of £100 to £117.11 in just two days.
Other goings on & gubbing!
Well, I got slightly derailed during the afternoon because William Hill has started a new offer which was money back as cash if 2nd in all the races at Salisbury and Redcar providing that the minimum number criteria were met. So I settled in for an afternoon on that but realised pretty quickly that something was amiss in that the option to Boost my prices wasn't available. So a quick look through my emails and sure enough there is an email entitled: "Important - Changes to your William Hill account".
The irony of having my account "gubbed" or having all offers taken away if you prefer on the same day that they rolled out their new WH Fair Play rules did make me laugh. That account was quite old but only recently have I used it for the offers and it has to be said that William Hill has many offers so I guess it was due.
The upside is that William Hill is now on my bookie's list for the Each Way Value Betting and as a consequence one of my winners was with them. Another upside is that I had quite a large sum of money (for me) tied up in the account so I have now taken out 85% which I will be able to use to bolster my exchange and look for new opportunities.
So moving on from the gubbing I got away with a misplaced bet on the Champions League. There was an offer for "Chelsea to win their game to nil" for a price of 4.8 and the exchange was 4.5. So I placed the max bet of £25 at the bookmaker and laid at the exchange. It turns out though that in my haste to get the lay on I clicked off the bookmaker page before the bet was confirmed and consequently ended up with a Lay without a back bet. I managed to back half of my liability on the exchange and let the rest run. Fortunately, Frankfurt scored and a profit of £11.66 was secured but definitely need to be more careful in future.
